PASSPORT AND VISA: All visitors to Nepal except Indian nationals must hold valid passports and visas. The Royal Nepalese Embassies, Consulates abroad or Immigration Offices at entry point's provide a one month visa upon the presentation of a valid passport, two passport size photos and a payment equivalent to US $ 40 for single entry, US $ 70 for double entry and US $ 100 for multiple entry respectively. Visitors entering Nepal without a visa may also obtain a 30 day visa from the Department of Immigration, Tridevi Marg, Kathmandu (Tel: 412337/418573) with a payment of an additional 25 percent in Rupees. Tourists can extend their visas at the Department of Immigration, Tridevi Marg, Kathmandu or at the Immigration Office, Pokhara.
WHERE TO OBTAIN VISAS: Visas for entering Nepal can be obtained from the Royal Nepalese Embassies and Consulate Offices abroad as represented in Appendix- 4-5.

EMBARKATION AND DISEMBARKATION CARDS: Tourists are required to fill out Disembarkation and Embarkation Cards, upon their arrival and departure.
AIRPORT TAX: Airport tax of Rs. 600/- per passenger is levied on departure to SAARC (South Asian) Countries and Rs. 700 to other international destinations. Those flying within Nepal are required to pay Rs. 20/- for remote districts and Rs. 50 for other airports.
EXIT VISAS: Tourists are not required to produce any Exit Visas, but they will have to present their passports at the point of exit.
CUSTOMS FORMALITIES: All baggage must be declared and cleared through the customs of the port of entry. Personal effects are permitted free entry. The duty on articles brought by the visitor varies according to the volume and value of the goods. The above mentioned articles are subject to re-exportation. Antiques and precious or semi-precious stones bought by tourist must be cleared and a certificate obtained from His Majesty's Government of Nepal, Department of Archaeology.
