INDIAN EMBASSY PROVIDES AMBULANCES AND SCHOOL BUS WORTH NRs. 8.54 MILLION

On the auspicious occasion of the 58th Independence Day of India, the Indian Embassy provided 15 Ambulances to various non-profit organizations from different parts of Nepal devoted to community welfare activities. Charge d’Affaires, Mr. V.P. Haran handed over the keys of the Ambulances to representatives of the selected organisatons. One school bus was also handed over by him to Babu Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School Pulchowk, Lalitpur. Ten of the Ambulances were for organizations from rural areas, and the remaining 5 were for organizations from urban areas. The cost of these vehicles is Nepali Rupees 8.54 million.

The Government of India has in the last ten years provided 45 Ambulances and 9 school buses to various NGOs under its programme of Economic Cooperation with Nepal. The Ambulances have provided much needed service by transporting patients from far flung areas to the nearest available health facilities.

On the occasion, the Embassy of India also donated books to twelve educational institutions and libraries from
different parts of Nepal.

In his address, Cd’A emphasized the commitment of Government of India to continue with its cooperation in the health and educational sector of Nepal for strengthening the core links of friendship between the people of India and Nepal.
