NRs. 7.16 Million Water Project for Dhankuta

The Government of India has been implementing Drinking Water Projects for the welfare of ex-servicemen of the Indian Army living in remote rural areas of Nepal. Today, the Foundation Stone was laid for the Dhankuta Nagarpalika Drinking Water Project, by H.E. Mr. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, Ambassador of India. This project costs NRs 7.16 million. Former PM Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa and Honourable Chief Justice, Mr. Kamanand Prasad Dev were also present during the function. This project will benefit over 3500 people of the Dhankuta Municipality

In 2004 alone, 26 drinking water projects costing NRs. 23 million have been executed across Nepal. Till date, the Government of India has funded over 900 such projects costing more than NRs. 100 million. The scheme entails providing materials like pipes and fittings, cement, tap sets, heating plates, CGI sheets, water tanks and various types of pumps that are required for executing the projects to the villagers, who are involved with the scheme from planning to execution.
