INDIAN ASSISTANCE OF NRS. 15.45 MILLION FOR TWO SCHOOLS IN SUNSARI

Foundation stones were laid today for the Shree Sharda Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Khanar, Sunsari and the Pakali Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Pakali Bazar, Tharuhat, Sunsari. The Government of India will extend assistance of NRs. 1,13,32,248/- for construction of the school building, boundary wall and drinking water supply for the Shree Sharda Madhyamik Vidyalaya and NRs. 41,24,096/- for the upgradation of the physical infrastructure of the Pakali Madhyamik Vidyalaya. The school buildings will be called 'Nepal Bharat Maitri Bhawan', and will stand as an enduring symbol of friendship between the two countries.

Two tripartite agreements have been signed between the Embassy of India, District Development Committee, Sunsari and Pakali Madhyamik Vidyalaya and the Shree Sharda Madhyamik Vidyalaya respectively, laying down the modalities of Indian assistance for these projects. Both projects would be executed by the DDC, Sunsari. Monitoring Committees have been constituted for the projects consisting of members of the School Management Committee and the District Education Officer, Sunsari to oversee the respective projects.

These projects reflect India's commitment to strengthen bilateral relations through such cooperation, especially in the important sector of education.
