A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on March 16, 2007 by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu with District Development Committee, Palpa and Tansen Multiple Campus, Tansen in District Palpa for providing a grant of NRs.1,54,73,302/- for the construction of a building for the campus.
Under the MOU a monitoring committee has been constituted consisting of representatives from the campus management committee, DDC and District Education Officer to oversee the project, supervise the construction work and ensure effective utilization of the grant.
Tansen Multiple Campus located in Tansen, district headquarters of Palpa was established in 2047(B.S.) with efforts of teachers of Tribhuvan University. The campus is running 10+2, B.Ed (one year and three years) and M.Ed (since 2005 A.D.) courses from the rented building. At present, the campus has 722 students. The new infrastructure will enable the campus to increase the number of students and achieve a higher educational standard in the area. The project, which will be the first project in the education sector in District Palpa, will greatly contribute to the development of education in this area by providing improved an infrastructure for learning.
The project is part of the on-going bilateral economic cooperation programme between India and Nepal, under which more than 185 projects are being realized in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering almost all the districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs.2000 crores. The new hope for peace and development in Nepal ushered in by historic changes and the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement stands to add greater vigour and momentum to developmental cooperation between India and Nepal.
