MEDIA ADVISORY

The 5th batch of recipients of Government of India’s Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme in Nepal will be awarded ‘Certificates of Merit’ at a function to be held on Thursday, 15 March 2007 (1 Chaitra 2063) at 1100 hours in Nepa Dhuku Hall, Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu by the Ambassador of India Mr. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee to fifty meritorious Nepali students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds for studies at undergraduate level in Nepal. The function will be followed by lunch.

The Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS), among the most important scholarship schemes of the Government of India in Nepal, was launched in the year 2002 to commemorate 50 years of economic cooperation between India and Nepal. It embodies India’s commitment to partner Nepal in its development effort, including in the field of development of human resources.

It would be our pleasure to have a correspondent from your organisation amidst us at the event to cover the function, and for the lunch which would follow.

For further information on the function, please contact Education Wing of the Embassy at 4414149 or education@eoiktm.org.
