A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on August 8, 2007 by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu with the District Development Committee, Sindhuli and Shree Chandeshwari Secondary School in Dadhi Guranse VDC of district Sindhuli for providing a grant assistance of NRs.27.80 million for construction of the school’s new building, boundary wall and provision of furniture and equipment, under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.
Shree Chandeshwari Secondary School was established in 1960 as primary school and upgraded to the secondary level in 1993. The school is presently running classes for about 800 students from a small building. The new infrastructure being constructed with the assistance of the Government of India would provide the school with much needed space for its growing number of students and help the school in upgrading to 10+2 level.
Under the MOU, an oversight committee consisting of representatives from the school management committee, DDC and District Education Office will be constituted to oversee the project for its effective and timely implementation.
This is the second development project undertaken by the Government of India in District Sindhuli in recent months under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme. A project for construction of three health posts in the VDCs of Baseswor, Kusheswor Dumja and Bhuwaneswori of Sindhuli is already under implementation with grant assistance of NRs. 5.65 million from India. These are part of more than 230 large and small projects currently being realized with the Indian assistance in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering all districts of Nepal with an outlay of over NRs. 21 billion.
