Indian Assistance for school building in District Banke

At a public function held on May 28, 2007, Ambassador of India, Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee inaugurated the newly constructed school building of Shree Pashupati Siksha Mandir, Ranitalaw, Nepalgunj built with a grant assistance of NRs.27,87,684 from the Government of India. The project has been implemented by District Development Committee, Banke.

Pashupati Shiksha Mandir, situated in the Ranitalaw established in 1994 and has more than 350 students studying classes I-VIII. The school is facing acute shortage of physical infrastructure due to the increasing number of students. The new building constructed with GOI cooperation assistance will be more conducive to learning and allow the school to upgrade into a Secondary School thus providing a much needed facility for higher education in the area.

This is among the five educational infrastructure projects in district Banke, apart from one ambulance gifted to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in this district.

In his address at the function, Ambassador of India underlined the importance of educational infrastructure for Nepal's national development and highlighted the primacy being given to the educational sector in the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme. He reiterated the commitment of the Government and the people of India to support the people of Nepal in their efforts to seek peace, stability and development.

Currently, under the ongoing bilateral economic cooperation programme between India and Nepal, more than 200 large and small projects are being realized in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering all the districts of Nepal with an outlay of over NRs.2000 crores.
