A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Embassy of India, The District Development Committee, Dhanusha and Shree Tapsi Baba Secondary School, Tilhi, Sonigama, Dhanusha regarding grant of Government of India assistance of NRs.2,64,62,312/- for construction of school building and boundary wall for Shree Tapsi Baba Secondary School, Tilhi, Sonigama, Dhanusha.
A Monitoring Committee has been constituted for the project consisting of the Chairperson, School Management Committee, Engineer, DDC/DTO, Dhanusha and District Education Officer, Dhanusha to oversee the project and supervise construction and ensure proper utilisation of the grant assistance.
The implementation of this project will go a long way in providing better education to the people of the District of Dhanusha and will directly benefit about 1000 students of the area. This is the fifth educational project, out of total of seven projects being undertaken by Government of India in Dhanusha District under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.
The commitment of India to triple the development assistance and double the scholarships for Nepalese students to strengthen and diversify bilateral economic cooperation, following Prime Minister of Nepal's visit to India in June 2006, was reiterated during the function as well as the need for development of education as the most important requirement for the overall development in Nepal.
Currently the bilateral cooperation programme between the two countries is witnessing the realisation of 160 projects in education, health and infrastructure sector in 75 districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs.2000 crores. These are ongoing projects and distinct from NRs.1600 crores economic package announced during the visit of Prime Minister Koirala to India.
