The Ambassador of India to Nepal Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today symbolically handed over to Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Shri. Mahantha Thakur fertilizers provided by Government of India at a subsidised price. This is in pursuance of the decision to arrange supply of 15,000 metric tons of Urea and 10,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizers by Government of India to Nepal at subsidized prices taken during the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal Shri Girija Prasad Koirala to India in June 2006.

This gesture and other decisions taken during the above mentioned visit represents firm commitment of India to stand fully in support of the people of Nepal in their effort to consolidate democracy and accelerate economic development in Nepal. The Government of India and the Government of Nepal are working out modalities for implementing other understandings reached during the above mentioned visit to further expand and deepen India-Nepal economic cooperation.
