Indian Assistance of NRs.23,49,266/- for Nuwakot Adarsha Multiple Campus, Battar, Nuwakot

Ambassador of India, Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, inaugurated the computer training building of Nuwakot Adarsha Multiple Campus, Battar, Nuwakot on August 30, 2006 in the presence of the representatives of local Government and community leaders at a public gathering. The need for a new computer training building – Nepal-Bharat Maitri Bhawan - with computers and other related peripheral infrastructure, at a cost of NRs.23,49,266/-, had long been felt by the campus and it is hoped that the additional infrastructure will not only contribute in giving more access to technical and higher education for the students but add to Nepal’s development in the cutting-edge sector of information technology.

In his address, Ambassador reiterated the commitment of India to contribute for development of education as a means of overall development in Nepal. Other important speakers and educationists addressed the large gathering, expressing deep appreciation for India’s continued contribution in the education sector, important and essential for Nepal’s development.

As part of the ongoing implementation of 150 projects by the Government of India in the education, health and infrastructure sectors in 75 districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs. 1800 crores, more than 66,000 students have benefited in the education sector alone. India has tripled its commitment under the Small Development Projects Scheme and doubled its scholarships for Nepalese students to strengthen and diversify bilateral relations with Nepal through economic cooperation, following Prime Minister of Nepal’s visit to India in June 2006.
