The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the construction of “Nepal-Bharat Maitri Emergency & Trauma Centre” at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu will be performed by the Ambassador of India to Nepal H.E. Mr. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee at 08:30 am on Friday, October 27, 2006.

The “Nepal-Bharat Maitri Emergency & Trauma Centre” is being built with Government of India’s grant assistance of NR 108 crores. The 8-storey 200-bed trauma Centre will be second of its kind in SAARC Countries, and the first outside India, and will add to the existing emergency services being provided by Bir Hospital.

The project will continue India’s association with Bir Hospital where a 5-storey Out Patient Complex and a Nuclear Imaging Medical Centre were set up in the past with Indian assistance.
