Indian Assistance of NRs.16,09,490/- for Gram Sudhar Primary School, Baluwa VDC, Gokarna, Kathmandu

Ambassador of India Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, inaugurated the school building of Gram Sudhar Primary School, Baluwa VDC, Gokarna, Kathmandu on August 8, 2006 in the presence of the representatives of local Government and community leaders at a public gathering. The new school building at a total cost of NRs.16,09,490/- will improve the educational infrastructure of students at the primary level and encourage them to pursue education as a means for their overall development.

In his address, Ambassador reiterated the commitment of India to contribute for development of education in Nepal that has had a beneficial impact on thousands of students in Nepal through the creation of school buildings, donation of books and scholarships. Local Development Officer, District Development Committee addressing the large gathering while expressing sincere appreciation for India’s continued contribution identified India-Nepal Cooperation as a landmark example to be emulated by other countries.

As part of the ongoing implementation of 149 projects by the Government of India in the education, health and infrastructure sectors in 63 districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs. 1800 crores, more than 66,000 students have benefited in the education sector alone. India’s commitment to strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations with Nepal through economic cooperation is steadfast and has intensified following its commitment given to the Prime Minister of Nepal during his visit to India in June 2006.
