Indian Assistance of NRs.6,35,25,380/- for four schools in District, Parsa

Ambassador of India, Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, laid the foundation stones of school buildings of Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsh Nagar, Shree Sharda Secondary School, Bahuwari- Sugauli, Shree Zilla Uchangal Higher Secondary School, Pokharia and Shree Nepal Rastriya Primary School, Auraha on July 27, 2006 in the presence of the representatives of local Government and community leaders from Parsa at a public gathering. The construction of school building and compound wall at a cost of NRs.71,73,706/- for Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsh Nagar, school building, library, laboratory with compound wall at a cost of NRs.2,30,32,952/- for Shree Sharda Secondary School, Bahuwari- Sugauli, school building(including library) & compound wall at a cost of NRs.2,03,19,250/- for Shree Zilla Uchangal Higher Secondary School, Pokharia and school building & compound wall at a cost of NRs.1,29,99,472/-for Shree Nepal Rastriya Primary School, Auraha are the first small development education projects being undertaken under the bilateral Economic Cooperation Programme in Parsa and will not only contribute to the education of the students in these schools but also add linkages to the existing educational infrastructure. Most of the students being from economic backward background, the improved infrastructure is also expected to encourage them and their brothers and sisters to take up education as a means to improve their lifestyle and career opportunities.

These projects are part of the ongoing implementation of 147 projects by the Government of India in the education, health and infrastructure sectors in 63 districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs.1800 crores. These projects reflect India's commitment to strengthening and diversify development cooperation reiterated at the highest level of the political leadership of both countries during the recent visit to India by the Prime Minister of Nepal, Girija Prasad Koirala.

While laying the foundation stones of school buildings of Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsh Nagar, Shree Sharda Secondary School, Bahuwari- Sugauli, Shree Zilla Uchangal Higher Secondary School, Pokharia and Shree Nepal Rastriya Primary School, Auraha on July 27, 2006 at a total cost of Nrs.6,35,25,380/- for above mentioned four schools in District Parsa, the Ambassador of India Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee said that India was happy to contribute to the significant sector of education, which is the basis of development and progress. He drew attention to the recently successful visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal G.P. Koirala to India and pointed out India’s continued commitment to contributing to the economic development of Nepal. The Ambassador of India also mentioned that the people of Nepal have taken in their hands the destiny of their country and the future of Nepal is safe in their hands. Several political leaders and other speakers who addressed the large gathering at the function expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude for India’s continued contribution to the economic development of Nepal.
