Six School Buses Presented on Independence Day

At the flag hoisting ceremony at the Embassy of India to mark the 59th Independence Day, the Ambassador of India Shri Shiv Shankar Mukherjee gifted four school buses to schools in the Kathmandu valley. Recipients included, Pranavananda Ashram, Kumarigal; Sri Matri Aurobindo Vidyalaya High School, Thankot; Navjyoti Centre, Baluwatar and Khagendra New Life Centre, Jorpati.

Separately, the Consul General of India in Birgunj presented two more buses to the Shree Siddharth Secondary School in Birgunj and the Pashupati Shiksha Mandir of Bhairahawa, Rupandehi. Government of India has so far gifted a total of 15 buses to various schools since 2002.

At the programme books were also presented by the Ambassador to 20 academic institutions and libraries from different parts of Nepal.

The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by over 2000 persons. On this occasion, the Ambassador read out the message of President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. A short cultural programme was presented by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Flag hoisting programme were also held at the Consulate General in Birgunj and the Pension Paying Offices in Pokhara and Dharan.
