Assistance of Nrs.6 Million For Manakamana Water Supply Project

Ambassador of India, H.E. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, today laid the foundation stone for the extension and rehabilitation of the Manakamana Water Supply System in Gorkha. Government of India will be extending assistance of NRs.60,40,709/- for this project which supplies water to the Manakamana village and the surrounding areas. This project will also benefit the more than 500,000 pilgrims who visit the temple every year.

As a close neighbour, India has a stake in Nepal's development especially in key areas of health, education and infrastructure. Through the Manakamana Water Supply project India reiterates its commitment to bilateral economic cooperation and hopes that this project will be an enduring symbol of friendship between our two countries.

The project will be executed by the DDC, Gorkha. An oversight committee consisting of Chief District Engineer, District Technical Office, Gorkha, Sr. Divisional Engineer, Water Supply & Sanitation Division, Gorkha & General Secretary Manakamana Development Committee, Gorkha will oversee the project
