INDIAN CONSULATE GENERAL IN BIRGUNJ

The Office of the Consulate General of India in Birgunj was today formally inaugurated by His Excellency, Mr. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee,
Ambassador of India.

This the first Consulate of India in Nepal. The Consulate General in Birgunj will serve Nepalese as well as Indians by extending all services. The Consulate will issue passports and register Indian nationals. It will process applications for scholarships from Nepalese students, issue vehicle permits for India and attest consular documents.

The Consulate is expected to significantly facilitate trade and commerce between India and Nepal. The Consulate will assist in resolving bilateral commercial disputes and attend to trade related enquiries.

The Consulate will pay a significant role in strengthening the centuries old cultural ties between India and Nepal and also further diversify the
people-to-people linkages.
