Assistance of Nrs. 27.27 Million For Hospitals In Jhapa

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Embassy of India, Bhadrapur Municipality, Jhapa and Mechi Zonal Hospital, Bhadrapur, Jhapa regarding grant assistance of NRs.2.72 crores from Government of India for construction of a 25 bed Gynea Hospital and provision of furniture & equipment to Mechi Zonal Hospital in Bhadrapur.

A developmental concern that India shares with Nepal is the need for improved mother and child care facilities in Nepal. The immediate beneficiaries of this project would the over 3 and a half lac women out of the total population of 7,33,040 in district Jhapa.

The project will be executed by the Bhadrapur Municipality Bhadrapur Jhapa . An oversight committee consisting of the Engineer of the Municipality, Medical Superintendent Mechi Zonal Hospital and Member of Mechi Zonal Hospital Development Committee has been constituted to oversee and supervise the project.

This project will further improve the health facilities in the district of Jhapa and strengthen bonds of cooperation between India and Nepal. India's commitment to development cooperation with Nepal in the key sectors of education, health and infrastructure is steadfast and will further deepen and diversify in the years to come.
