NR.1.4 MILLION AS INDIAN ASSISTANCE FOR BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTRE, LAHAN, DISTRICT SIRAHA AND AN AMBULANCE TO LAHAN MUNICIPALITY.

India-Nepal economic co-operation in health care was strengthened with the construction of the newly built Blood Transfusion Service Centre, Nepal Red Cross Society, Lahan. In a function today organised by the Centre, the Blood Transfusion Service Centre was handed over by the Government of India to the Nepal Red Cross Society, Lahan. The Blood Transfusion Service Centre building that is expected to cater to the needs of over 5,70,000 people of Siraha, has been constructed with an Indian grant assistance of NRs.1.4 million.

The project has been executed by the District Development Committee, Siraha within a record span of 8 months. In addition, an ambulance has also been given by Government of India to Lahan Municipality that will ferry patients from remote villages to the district hospital in Siraha.

Co-operation in health has resulted in eradication of visible goitre, the creation of first rate hospitals and 92 ambulances criss-crossing Nepal for patient care. The present project has been completed on schedule and will bring immediate benefit to the people. This, in turn strengthens the bonds of friendship between the peoples of India and Nepal.
