Assistance for Embankments in Nepal |

The Embassy of India has handed over a sum of NRs. 44.0 million to the Department of Water-Induced Disaster Prevention, His Majesty’s Government of Nepal, as the third installment of India’s contribution towards construction of marginal embankments along the right and left banks of the Bagmati River. The Government of India’s full contribution to the construction of embankments along Bagmati will be NRs. 215 million. The first installment of NRs. 42.7 million was released in October 2003 and the second instalment of NRs. 54.0 million was released in July 2004. The Government of India has already contributed NRs.41 million to the construction of marginal embankments along the Lalbakeya River in Nepal and will be constructing marginal embankments along the rivers Kamala and Khando in the future. The Government of India is committed to constructing such flood control structures as a gesture of friendship and goodwill towards the Nepalese people. |
