Indian Assistance of NRs.21.54 Million for one School in District Bara
 

At a public function held on January 18, 2008, on behalf of Ambassador of India, Shri T. Ashok, Consul General, CGI, Birgunj laid the foundation stone for the new building of Shree Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Piparapati Pachrauta VDC-8 of district Bara, being constructed with a grant assistance of NRs.21.54 millions from the Government of India.

Shree Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, situated at Piparpati Pachrauta VDC-8 of Bara was established in 1947 as lower secondary school and upgraded to higher secondary in 1985. The school is presently holding classes for over 1100 students coming from 7 VDCs of the district in an old and inadequate building. The new infrastructure being constructed with the assistance of Government of India will provide much needed and improved classroom space for the school.

This project is being implemented by DDC, Bara while an oversight committee consisting of representatives from the school management committee, DDC and the District Education Office has been constituted to ensure community participation in overseeing the project for their effective and timely implementation.
   
Conveying the message of Ambassador of India during the function,  Consul General  T. Ashok reiterated India's commitment to extend all possible assistance to the people and Government of Nepal in their endeavour to seek lasting peace and development. He underlined the importance of educational infrastructure for Nepal's future development and highlighted the primacy being given to the education sector in the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.

This is the second project being implemented with the assistance of Government  of India in district Bara and overall is part of more than 265 large and small projects currently being realized under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering all the districts of Nepal with an outlay of over NRs.21.5 billions.
