A function held at the Election Commission of Nepal this afternoon, Ambassador of India to Nepal Mr. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee handed over an additional ballot paper printer to the Secretary of the Commission in the presence of the Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal. The printing machine, worth about NRs. 64 lakhs, will augment the capacity of the Election Commission to print ballot papers for the forthcoming Constituent Assembly Elections. The supply of an additional printing machine is part of India’s ongoing assistance to the peace process in Nepal and for successful Constituent Assembly elections. Other assistance from India to the Election Commission of Nepal includes vehicles worth NRs. 5 crore and supply of Electronic Voting Machines. The latter are to be used in Kathmandu-1 constituency. Technical Experts from India had trained officials of the Election Commission of Nepal in use of EVMs. Another team of technical experts would be visiting Kathmandu during the CA polls to provide technical support to the Election Commission of Nepal on electronic voting. |
