The workers of the Nepali TV channel ‘Nepal One’, who have been agitating for close to one month to press for their demands pertaining to various service conditions, came to the Embassy today requesting Embassy’s intervention for early resolution of the matter. The representatives were received by the Ambassador.

After listening to the representatives, it was explained to them that the matter was essentially a labour dispute between the management of the channel and its workers in which the Embassy or the Government of India have no role to play. However, out of respect for the sentiments of the agitating workers and their desire to seek help from the Embassy, they were told that their demands, which were understandably already with the management of the channel, will also be conveyed by the Embassy urging early resolution.

The Embassy hopes for an early and amicable resolution of the matter and reiterates its appreciation of the role played by the Nepali media in furthering the cause of democracy, peace and development in Nepal.
